hey, new to the site and have a quick question, i know its hard to diagnose problems over the net soometimes but figured i'd give it a shot. i recently was given a 95 6cyl 4wd hb that the 4wd and the 4wd doesnt work. my boss gave it too me and the story that i got froom him is that it used to make a loud clunk or bang goin into 4wd(which i hear is kinda normal) until one day it stopped working altogether, no clunk no 4wd but the 2wd still works fine even with the gear selector in 4wd. should i be looking for a new transfer case, and if so where? Anyone have one shipped through ebaymotors?thanks in advance.

Put the thing up on blocks and put it in 4wd. See if the front driveshaft is moving. If it is then the transfer case is ok, might be the front differential or the hubs (a weakpoint on these). Just a couple thoughts.

does it have auto or manual locking hubs. if they're auto that would be where I would check first.

it does have auto locking hubs, if 1 is bad its the same as when you have manual hubs and leave one unlocked so the 4wd wont engage right?
