I am going to install a Chevrolet 4.3lt with a 700r4 auto tranny into my 2002 Frontier. It is cheaper than replacing the Nissan motor and will have tons of more power!
My question is on the Nissan tranny what is the signal output of the VSS? Like how many pulses per revolution?
Does the tach read straight from the ECm or does it come from the distributor to the gauge cluster?
I know what you maybe thinking, but the truck has over 200k miles and the new motor and tranny only have 23k miles and are costing only $300 for both.....you just can get the Nissan for that!
The swap does not look that hard ,only the speedo and tach wiring is to be questioned.
Thanks for any good input.

Does matter, I want to have the speedo work properly. As far as the motor running you are correct. I will just use the chevy harness, but I stillneed to tie into the Nissan for things like the speedo and gauges. Should not be to bad. I am putting the motor in today, looks like almost a direct bolt in with a fem minor adjustments.:)
