How do i check the transmission fluid level. There's no dip stick under the cap, this was a pain trying to get the cap off to. But got it off.
What is the right transmission fluid to used and how fluid needed, and do I need to change a filter on the transmission to.
I have about 46000 miles on 2019 rogue 4-cylinder motor.
The transmission when I get it never felt not right to me shifting but was told it was ok.
Thanks for your help.
For a simple drain/fill on a 2013 and newer CVTs, it takes about 3.5 quarts of the NS-3 fluid; There should be a fill tube with a locking cap that you can see from the top of the engine compartment. Some 2013's and newer CVTs don't have a fill tube/dipstick. They use a charging pipe set that screws into the drain plug hole that's on the CVT oil pan. Pour in only 3 qts. Now make sure to Fully warm up the CVT by driving the car around slowly for about 30 minutes; the temperature should be in the range of 170F - 180F. Now let it idle.
Make sure the car is level! Remove the overflow plug from the overflow port that's under the CVT converter case; it's at an angled position. For the CVT's that don't have a seperate overflow port, remove the drain plug on the oil pan; assuming the charging pipe is installed. If fluid comes out, let it continue to come out until it stops during the first "hiccup"; now at this point put the plug back on; the CVT is now full. If no fluid comes out, then slowly pour a little of the fluid in until fluid starts coming out of the overflow port. let it continue to come out until it stops during the first "hiccup"; now at this point put the plug back on; the CVT is now full. Now drive it some more for about 15 minutes or more, then recheck the fluid level while it's idling.
Very important note - Make sure that the fluid is not overfull. Not even just a little bit; better to be underfull a little bit. An overfull condition will cause the fluid to foam thereby losing it's lubricating function and causing a very early "death" of the CVT.
