New member here with a 2022 Rogue Sport SL. Does anyone on here have any information on how to obtain and subscribe to map updates for the 2019 to 2022 Navigation system?
Apparently in 2019 Nissan switched their on board navigation to TomTom. If one installs the Nissan map upgrade program all updates only go as far as 2018. For 2019 and later a different program must be loaded to receive updates, called Map Update Tool. This program allows map updating to a thumb drive and is powered by TomTom. When I got my new Sport in September it came with 60 days of free updates. I was able to update the maps that came in the car once. Now, since my free subscription has expired all I get is that my subscription has expired and it allows me to install the latest map that I'm entitled to on the thumb drive, which is the same as the map that I already have. There is no information of any kind for purchasing a new subscription. My real question is does anyone on the forum know anything about how to subscribe to the map updates. I've called Nissan support twice and they don't even know that Nissan is using a different map system. One rep even asked me what TomTom was! I've talked to my dealer and they've never heard of any information on map updates. A google search only brings up information and help on the 2018 and earlier map system. I really doubt that there are any new updates available as in car navigation systems rarely get timely updates, but when one does become available I would like to be able install it. Thanks in advance for any help and information.

Thanks for the reply. You may be correct, but I'm still confused by the time line. I bought my Rogue Sport on Sep 10, 2022. With it I got free subscriptions to Nissan Connect Premium and Premium Plus for 90 Days. They expire in March, 2023. I also got free Nissan Connect Services Select for three years, expiring in September, 2025. When I installed the Map Update Services and plugged in my thumb drive that I downloaded the maps from my car the program notified me that my map update subscription for my car would expire on Nov 27,2022. Basically all I was allowed to do was update the factory installed maps to the current map and that was it. There is no information available from anyone whether it would be my dealer, Nissan customer support, the map update program or the My Nissan website where I can go to continue my subscriptions. Surely there's got to be someone out there that knows what is going on here.

I believe that I finally figured out what is going on with the map update service. The basic resolution is that the maps cannot be updated. I've spoken to Nissan Connect Services customer support multiple times, Nissan customer support several times and Sirius XM support multiple times. I've spoken to 4 dealerships and so far no one can provide any information on this. The problem now is that there are three levels of features with Nissan connect services. The first level is NissanConnect Services Select. The second level is NissanConnect Services Premium, and finally NissanConnect Services Premium Plus. The Select service expires after 3 years and the Premium services expire after 6 months. None of these optional services provide for map updates which called MapCare. I have a copy of the 2022 NissanConnect Services brochure. This publication describes all the options and features of the services including features of each package. It identifies the Select level and states that it is complimentary for 5 years from date of purchase. It then describes the Premium package and it's features and notes that it expires 6 months after purchase. There is no Premium Plus tier in this publication. What the publication does describe though is a Plus tier that includes the mapping features and also includes map care. This tier is also shown as complimentary for 5 years from date of purchase. What evidently happened is that the select tier was reduced to 3 years from 5 years and the plus tier was eliminated and rolled into the Premium Plus tier. Unfortunately none of the map features were included in this change. Nissan did this at some unknown to us time frame and didn't inform anyone even the dealers or their support networks. As a result a call to any of the support phone lines results in no one there aware of what your talking about and you are generally run around in circles. Since the Plus service is no longer available the support folks don't understand what you're asking and all they can acknowledge is the Premium Plus service. Since the map update service went away with the Plus service and did not carry forward to the Premium Plus service there is no longer a way to subscribe to map updates at any price, as the option no longer exists. To test this I renewed my Premium Plus service, and as of now, a week later the map update subscription is still expired.

I sploke to customer care today and was finally able to make the operator understand what is happening here. There is a possibility that the map updates are tied to the serial number of the individual radios and there may be a problem with the registration of the radio in my car. If this the case it may explain why I'm having so much trouble with this. If I find out more I'll post another update here.
