I have a 2010 Nissan Maxima S that has had a new alternator put in, new battery, that will randomly not charge. Car will be fine for weeks. And then I'll have random issues. I could start the car, and it randomly not charge. Or I could be driving down the road and lose power, dashboard lights will all come on and eventually car will die like the alternator is bad.

Before I had problems with the car dying on me, all the dashboard lights would randomly come on, speedometer and RPM needles would zero out, then after a few seconds, lights would go off and needles would jump back up. Now that the car is randomly dying on me, the battery and brake light will flicker sometimes as well.

I'm so frustrated with this car! Any ideas?

Inspect all the following connectors for tightness/oxidation:
  • - Battery posts (+) and (-).
  • - Battery cable (-) at the engine block.
  • - Engine ground points.
  • - Harness connectors at the IPDM.
