Vehicle gas guage was right above totally being empty. Put a gallon of gas in vehicle and went maybe a 1/2 mile down the road before the vehicle started to sputter. Engine died and I coasted into a safe spot. More gas was put in and guage read quarter tank. Vehicle started twice with massive shaking and died if gas peddal was engaged. Vehicle will NOT start at all now. I was unable to find a purge valve. Has anyone had this issue? How did you fix it?

Most of the time, if your car runs out of fuel and then after refueling is unable to start or runs very rough, it is because of a failed fuel pump. The fuel pump in the fuel tank is kept cool with the fuel in the tank. If the fuel was very low, then the pump would get too hot and then when you add cool fuel into the tank that may cause the pump to fail.

One way to be sure is to check the fuel pressure. There is no schrader valve. You need a small fuel line release tool to be able to release the fuel line from the front of the driver's side fuel rail. Then you'll need a fuel pressure gauge with a "T" adapter to mount between the rail and the fuel line. You might be able to find these items (if you don't have them) at a parts store like Autozone with a tool loaner program. Fuel pressure spec is 50 PSI.
