Car is a 2008 Nissan Altima 2.5 Auto
First of all I have codes 725, 826, and 300.
I know 300 is a random misfire and I am replacing engine because it burns a lot of oil, excessive consumption. Car has 313,000.
-Sometimes I get no response in OD and I have to put the car in manual mode to move the car.
-Struggles for power above 60mph
-Sometimes when driving the rpms will go back and forth dropping 500 rpms up and down
-Half of the time it drives and shifts fine
-A lot of times it will jerk back and forth when slowly accelerating
-Sometimes at 40 to 45 it will jerk back and forth severely to violent.
I need to confirm transmission needs to be replaced too.
Thank You

Several of your driveability problems are most likely caused by a faulty CKP sensor. Our recommendation is to always use only Nissan OEM electronic components; in particular sensors. Aftermarket sensors such as ones from Ebay may be cheaper then OEM but are generally not reliable, don't last long and many times are DOA. Upon fixing the two fault code problems, most of your driveability problems may go away.

The P0725 code can be caused by the following:
  • Faulty Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor
  • Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor harness is open or shorted
  • Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor circuit poor electrical connection
  • Communication error between the Engine Control Module (ECM) and Transmission Control Module (TCM)
The P0826 code can be caused by the following:
  • Faulty Manual mode select switch (Built into control device, shifter)
  • Faulty Manual mode position select switch (Built into control device, shifter)
  • Faulty Control Device (Shifter)
  • Control Device harness is open or shorted
  • Control Device circuit poor electrical connection
