I am rehabilitating a 1995 Nissan D21 Hardbody. One thing it needs is new leaf springs. Some questions ...

  • I've heard that coil springs are better than leaf springs. Is it possible to get coil springs for this model?
  • Since the springs will be replaced one way or the other, I was thinking about a lift kit, both for clearance and 'cause it looks cool. What can be done?
  • I was told the lift kits can be hard on the transmission because it causes the drive shafts to be at an angle. Is this a concern?
Please advise in any way you can related to this

You can do anything if you spend enough time and money. No, it will not bolt up. And cool springs are not better than leaf springs. They have different purposes. You have a truck, and leaf springs are better for a truck.

Ok, so that answers my first question. Leaf springs it is. I don't want to do any radical modifications.
Just curious, why are leaf spring better for trucks?
I should have probably mentioned this is 4WD.
