Is the vacuum for the spark advance on the distributor suppose to be ported or manifold?

The manuals say ported and the vacuum line from the spark advance goes to the carburetor, but a pressure gauge on the spark advance line reads intake manifold vacuum.

It was late last night when I started the thread and I forgot to mention the car has the CA emissions package.

Also, if the spark advance should be receiving ported vacuum, what could be causing the manifold vacuum signal?

To my knowledge there are only two vacuum ports on the back of carburetor, one of which is designated for the spark advance vacuum line. Is it possible for manifold vacuum to "leak" into this port?

Which carb are you running?

I have a port on my carb as well on my manifold...

These two then go together via a t-piece which then goes to my dizzy.

A vacuum guage shows more manifold vacuum but not as much as it shows for pure manifold vacuum alone.
Could be for getting a balance!?
