here is the deal:

I bought a 2001 Nissan Sentra GXE 1.8L, from a dealer, pre-used, certified, 58,000 miles, but unfortunately with only one month limited waranty. It looked good, ran good...but needless to say things started to go wrong, or otherwise I wouldn't be posting here. :( Literaly ONE DAY after the waranty expired the "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" light came on. I am not a car expert, so now I am stuck and don't know what to do.

I went to AutoZone and got these codes, but don't know what they are or what to do with them:
P1111 - INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE (IAT) SENSOR CIRCUIT INTERMITTENT HIGH VOLTAGE
P1131 - LACK OF HO2S SWITCH - SENSOR INDICATES LEAN
P1140 - WATER IN FUEL CONDITION

Please help if you can!!! Also, what do you guys, who know more about this car, think about it? I thought it was supposed to be a good, reliable car...but I don't know now... I started to think I made a mistake.

Thanks!

somethign tells me those actual code names are wrong.

When I get home I'll check the 01 FSM and see exactly what it says those codes are. I am almost positive the P1140 is an O2 sensor code.

Anyways.......how does the car run? If it runs well, don't be so concerned.

the car is very reliable. Like I said, if the car runs fine, don't let a little yellow light concern you so much.

thank you SO MUCH for replying!!! I feel a little bit better already now that you told me I shouldn't be overly concerned with this... However, it's not easy for me to stay calm, because I drive my 15 month old son in this vehicle, and I am just not sure how safe it is.

To make things worse I called Nissan today asking about some recalls I read about online (that can cause this warning light to come on), and they told me that my engine could die while driving if that's what the problem is, and now I am scared to even go anywhere with my son before I fix this.

I would really, really appreciate it if you could help me with the codes. Also, where can I get that book with all the codes? I found and downloaded owners manual online but it doesn't contain any error codes.

Thanks a million!

okay:
P1111 is Intake valvetiming control solenoid valve

p1131 is the swirl control solenoid valve

p1140 is intake valve timing control position sensor

so there might be a short somewhere in the system that causes all these to go funky, because the car would run like complete crap if all these things were wrong ;)

hmmmm...very strange...

the car does run well...so far...knock on wood...but it started making some high pitched noise last night when I started it.

thanks for the codes!!! I really appreciate it.

so does this mean that "p1140 - intake valve timing control position sensor" has nothing to do with 02 sensor? or is that what it is in other words? I am really clueless about this stuff and appologize for bugging you so much.

anyways, I sheduled an appointment for Monday to fix those 2 recalls I mentioned before, that can cause this light to come on...it's crank position sensor, and ECMC foam...so we'll see...

thanks again, and do you know by any chance where I can get the list of codes??

when they do the recalls, have them take a look at that stuff.

the list of codes is in the factory service manual, which can be bought from Nissan for like $200. lol
