EGR blockoff on Infiniti G20

My 2000 Infiniti G20s exhaust manifold/catalytic converter (all in one piece garbage) was clogged up so I bought a set of headers to throw on there to fix the problem. Only when i pulled the oem manifold, the egr crossover tube was rusted out at the flange. The header will come with a plug for the header side of course. My question is can i just get a plug to block of the egr or do i need to completely remove the egr or do i just try to find a crossover tube?

If your state has strict emissions testing, then the EGR system needs to be working correctly otherwise you can remove the EGR valve and block off the hole to the intake manifold. However with the EGR completely removed, you will most likely see the "check engine" light come on.

If you want to retain the EGR system, you can get a crossover tube from a Nissan/Infinity dealer or a junk yard. Now hooking up the pipe to the header can be a real PITA; you may need an acetylene torch to heat the tube "red hot" to allow easy bending for proper fit to the header.

You have two choices:
- Completely remove the EGR valve and install a plate and gasket over the intake manifold.
- Just remove the cross-over pipe from the EGR valve and install a screw-in plug.
