Nissan xtrail recalls

Had a letter to day about excessive bottom end bearing wear and to take car for a control module update .Now my engine is already 5 years old surely if this has been going on for five years I would already have excessive wear .The only way they could find out would to pull a piston . Feed back anybody I have the 173 expedition sport
