Carb. on new 1.6L

Hi, I think I asked that question also. I never got a reply to it. I like the old carbs. They were dependable and I like the pull chokes too. What do you think it would be? an single or two barrow? I was wondering if an old head would still fit? Did they have a carb on one that would? Would it fit under the hood? I bet gas mileage would go up. What was you thinking? Two or three singles for racing?

Thank you for responding.I asked several veteran mechanics and honestly they can't answer
that. But someone gave me an idea that I should get an intake manifold from 1.6 engine carb version.
as per wikipedia :

There are SOHC & DOHC versions, 12 valve & 16 valve versions, carbureted, single-point and multi-point injected versions, and versions with variable valve timing (GA16DE)

Im sure the engine block of carb version and fuel injected version has the same bolt hole.

A taxi driver told me that their fleet of toyota vios was changed by the owner from fuel injected to carb type by changing the intake manifold with a carb.

I really wish that it's possible for our nissan ga1.6 :)

Thank you so much

Did you mean 8 valves & 16 valve versions. 8 Valve, there's 8 valves less to worry about and cause drag and stress. You mean the injectors can stay???
I wonder still about the bolt holes of the head and the intake manifold would need a head made for a carb manifold ?? You mean the intake is the same ?
I wonder if there's less room (no room for a carb.) in the fuel injected versions.
With a carb. You wouldn't need the fuel censers or the elect. brain would you ???
One less thing to brake down.
Would you be able to connect the Vac. hose I wonder. I like the old cable chokes.
I did get my 96 Sentra, looks new and I love it. Thanks....

Hi,

The idea is removing the injector assembly and replace it with intake manifold with a carb. The computer box is no longer needed. One more thing I learned is that the distributor needed should come from a carb model engine.A distributor of an eccs model works different.Wow.Some one should really try this conversion fo r us to know haha :)

Carb Modles

I read some where that there are carb modles in later years that are sent to place's like Africa. So maybe there is parts out there from some outlet in say-China or Japan. If it fit those cars I would think it would fit ours. Not sure if those cars had a carb head or the injectors were plugged. / Turn off. What ever...
I really don't know why the carb faded away??? Things come around in time and some day it might come back. Maybe there is a market for carb. mods.

Can I add a reply to my self? Yes the vacuum advance is used for speeding up or power but I think it would run with out it. Just not quite as good. What you would really need to add is a cable choke if there was no auto choke. And you lived in the cold region. I like a cable choke. I like having control over my car and not rely on some auto thing to work, that cost so much more to replace and will leave you stuck.
You added Ha Ha, Are you from Africa? You left little on your member page.

Its really the old school way and i agree that its an investment to go back. The new computerised sensers and actuators with microprosessors gets old and will leave you stranded. Unrealiable after 150 k kms. Modify your inletmanifold and make a new base flange for a Beetle Solex carburettor 1.6 litre. For 2.5 -3.0 litres modes take two carbs and join them with a T piece . Google the

Yes do it its simple and easy old school. Modify your manifold with a new base plate for a Beetle Solex Carb 1.6 jets. For a 2-3 litre play around with two solex carbs joined togeter on two flanges with a connector rod and T piece cable like on the SP Beetle models. It takes effort but once it works their is no more worries going on the road with this new modern cars with computers with sensors and actuators endless problems.
