I have a 2006 2.5 S and my question is about the thermostats.
I understand that the engine has two thermostats, 180F and 203F.
I removed the outlet rad hose at the thermostat housing to flush the coolant, and as soon as I started the engine I had water flow.
My experience with cars that have only one thermostat that at start up I would get a very low flow until the water reached the temp that the thermostat opens at then I will get full flow.
Is it normal to get the flow as soon as the car starts with a two thermostat system?
What should I get on my scan tool as the operating temp?

The main purpose of the water control valve is to allow the engine to warm up faster from a cold start. In your case, if you're getting more flow then you should with a cold engine, then the water control valve may be stuck open or opens too quickly. The only way to check if the water control valve is working properly is to remove it from the vehicle and do a boiling water test.

Thermostat: Valve opening temperature 80.5 - 83.5°C (177 - 182°F)
Water Control Valve: Valve opening temperature 93.5-96.5°C (200-206°F)

KA-T for life, yo!
