seized crank sprocket

Hello, I was doing a timing belt change on my E15 engine and all was going well until I got to the crank sprocket which is not budging. How do I get it off? It is flush with the engine block and recessed which all makes it difficult to get behind it. I am hesitant on just grabbing it with pliers to yank out as I don't want to damage the teeth. What's the secret?

....continued

I forgot to add I want to pull the sprocket to replace the crank seal. I think I'll have to drill it out and use a chisel on it to split it off.

Does your crankshaft pulley have threaded pilot holes, if so, then watch the following video clip:

It was not the pulley, but the small sprocket behind the pulley that is keyed and slips onto the crankshaft. But the good news is that I was able to drill two holes into the sprocket, thread them and use that very puller in the video. There was just enough rust to really hold that thing on there but the puller and some Kroil penetrating oil did the job. Thanks for the suggestion. It was the right one. Just had to make my own holes.
