my old pulsar NX did the same thing. my problem was a bad fuel injector. gas would puddle and create fumes that where sucked up by the heating vents.

wouldn't you be able to smell it all the time? he says it's only when the heater is on, not any other time.
i'll let him know what you said though, thanks.

really i did not understand it either. never smelled any gas from the engine bay. i would have problems starting after the car was sitting for a few days, injector would leak & flood the engine.

though it was a very rare/ interesting engine... CA16DE -no distributed -individual ignitor coils -never could get that thing to run right.

Have him check all his fuel lines and tighten the clamps down, asap. This is the time of year when people notice the leaks more often because of colder weather.

Man this is just like my problem. Z32 2+2 does the samething. Check out the Z32 section under gas fumes Z_rated and Spongerider have a good link that show you all the clamps to check. I'm going to do that this weekend.

But I didn't say this last time. Can I tighten all of the clamps by myself with regualar tools? It looks pretty easy. But 2 of them then look like a pain in the @#$

I've smelled around the engine bay and even when the fumes smell strong. It's stronger on the driver side then the passanger side of the engine bay.

You guys also mentioned the fuel injectors. Hows a good way to check those out. So you can tell if the need to be replaced. I had the #4 injector go bad on me about two months ago, but I didn't smell any fumes ever with or with out the heater on. My engine just keep skipin' like when one of your coils go bad the son of a gun flooded my engine and it wouldn't start any more. But got that fix. But they put the Z on the dyno to make sure that they other injectors wher fine.

So again is their an easier way to check the injectors with out pluging the Z into a dyno?

Yes, all you need a good Philips screw driver to tighten your fuel clamps. As for your injector get a long screw driver and put the head on top of the injector then put your ear on the handle of the screw driver. You will hear a distinctive click when the injector is firing.
