Clutch is dropping...

so i traded this guy from cinncy my prelude for his 92 Z, which has some odd clutch problem, its not grabbing right everytime and if u down shift or ride the clutch at all ( my mom did that ) the clutch just dumps and u have to pull it back out then it works again... sorry if this is hard to follow... anyways! he said he thinks its the master cylinder for the clutch, and gave us a replacment one with the trade. but i wanted to hear some more opinons first.... its gonna get replaced but i am just wierd i guess... thnx in advance

Losing any fluid? If not, probably just a bad shaft seal in the MC. Kinda like when your brake pedal slowly drops at a stop light, it's fluid pushing back past a bad piston shaft seal. It may be torn, or just worn out, in any case just replacing it should cure the problem. Check the slave cylinder on the tranny for any leakage, too.

Check the Master Cylinder and the slave cylinder for leaks. More than likely one or both or screwed. I think it's like 50 bucks for both at Advance Auto parts

i had the same problem in my car.....i'd push in the clutch to shift and it would just stay to the floor and it wouldn't let me shift gears and i'd have to reach down and pull it back out.....unfortunately i still haven't found out what it would be and i'm too stubborn to take it to a mechanic so if you find out let me know

If it isn't that, it is the control arm that the slave cylinder pushes. Might be out of place, adjustment, or just plain screwed.
