alright hey everyone i have a huge question and i need help on it fast........i was driving my z and i was shifting from first to second and when i pressed in the clutch to shift into second it wouldn't shift into second and i left off the clutch like wtf and the clutch stayed depressed all the way to the floor i managed to power shift home because the cost of a tow truck and the fact that it'd be bottoming out trying to get it on the back was not a good idea and i know power shifting isn't either but o well anyway correct me if i'm wrong the Z has a hydraulic clutch i'm pretty sure so would my problem be the master slave cylinder went?any input would be appreciated thanks

most likely you are out of fluid in the clutch master cylinder, and as a result you also have either the clutch master cylinder leaking or the slave cylinder (or both)
if you fill mechanically inclined you can by a rebuild kit for the master cylinder and slave cylinder for under $50.00 us dollars, and have the cylinders rebuilt and back on the car in less than an hour. but you will spend about an hour or so bleeding the clutch
to bleed the clutch do the following
1. pump the clutch a few times (5x) and than have an assistanct hold the pedal to the floor
2. OPEN UP the BLEED screw that is closest to the PowerSteering reservior (if you have an NA (also TT) its on a gold/brass block) REPEAT THIS PROCEDURE until you have fluid coming out
3. With assitants help pump clutch (5x) and than open the bleeder screw on the slave cylinder until fluid comes out
keep doing this until your clutch fells solid again AND MAKE sure that you keep the reservior filled while doing this
IF you don't have an assistant a pair of speed bleeders will work wonders for you

Might have blown the master cylinder or the slave cylinder or the reservoir in the master cylinder was sucking air. It's pretty unusual for a clutch pivot arm to go out of adjustment suddenly, unless the pivot ball broke, so I doubt that's it. Eyeball the easy stuff first; the reservoir and and all the lines and the slave cylinder.

At this point I would suspect the master or slave cylinder. The slave cylinder has a tendency to leak if any seals blow out, occasionally the master cylinder will leak into the car from around the seal/boot coming into the cockpit. Look under your dash. If either one of those isn't obvious, unless you want to buy one of each and install them, maybe a shop can test either one for you.

hey everyone........i bought a slave cylinder this morning and replaced it because the o-ring was gone on my other one and i was losing all my fluid out of it so i replaced it this morning and my shifter fork that sticks out of the tranny is floating around alot and i had a friend of mine who is the head mechanic at a local toyota dealership come up(he is a genius on cars)and look at it and he said he's 99% sure that my shifter fork is broken so i'm just letting you guys know who gave me input and helped me out

Well, at least now you know what it is. I bet the fork failed and when you pushed on the clutch as usual , the slave cylinder blew out. That's a worst case scenario if I've ever seen one. I've blown a couple slave cylinders myself, in a somewhat similar way........

Somehow mine did.

That might have been what happened there. Because I blew 2 slave cylinders before we fixed the problem

I should have added that the fork "tines" (The parts that actually push on the throwout bearing) can also bend or break, but the last time I saw that happen was on a 78 Toyota........
I figured newer cars were pretty immune to such failures. Me >>> :dumbass:
