300 with a chev SB
Upon being converted from an import fan to a V8 trooper, has anyone ever heard of, or know itf it's possible, to drop in a chev big or small block? I currently own a NA 1990 Z.

Never heard of anybody wanting to do it.. I would do a turbo swap WAY before I would put a domestic POS in there

I have read of guys doing it. Google search 280zx V8 swap and its in a forum some where. Just can't remember where. And i'm pretty sure it was a LS1.

This isn't meant to be insulting or offensive, but why would anyone do that? I don't understand how it could be beneficial.

On the other hand , an SBC would be a bit smaller than the big honkin DOHC V6 that's in there now. Just for reference , a pushrod 302 is 1/2 the size of an OHC 4.6.........

Well, IMO, i'm kind of against tearing out the VG, but it's your car. To quote a friend from another forum, "A Z ain't a Z withough the VG"

there is a Z32 with an LS1 in it that I have read about in SportZ. There are a few others it is possible but it will be costly.

Yea the price would be out of control for a LS1 compared to just swooping up the VG. Here some pics look around on HybridZ.com there are a couple guys on there that have done it to almost every nissan/datsun chassis that would except the swap.

Or to quote my old saying: Only Nissan engines belong in Nissan cars.
