New Fan Clutch Running To Often??

Hi All,

The Actual Question Is At The Bottom, But The Story Leading Up To It Is Funny So I Included It Also.

I Just Got My 300 About 3 Weeks Ago And Bought It Knowing That The Fan Clutch Needed To Be Replaced (it Was Stuck On). No Biggie, I've Had To Replace Them Before On Other Vehicles And They Worked Just Fine. So I Purchased A Generic One From Kragen And Did The Swap. This Is Where It Got Ugly... After Driving The Car The First Day After The Replacement I Thought The Problem Was Solved. The Next Day I Took It Up A Windy Mt Road And Noticed The Temp Climbing Fast. Before I Could Pull Off The Road Steam Started Coming Out From Under The Hood. There Was A 6" Crack In The Radiator Along The Top Plastic Cap. Upon Further Inspection I Found My Fan, With Half Of The New Fan Clutch Still Attached, Resting On The Plastic Belly Pan Completely Disconnected!! I Was Disgruntled To Say The Least. Went Back To Kragen And Purchased A New Radiator (and Placed A Calim For Reimbursment)they Replaced The Fan Clutch Free Of Charge. Apparently All 4 Of The Screws Holding The Clutch Together Had Worked Their Way Out In Less Than 2 Days (i Found The Screws While Replacing It For The Second Time)!

Any Way The Reason I Actually Started This Whole Story Is That I Don't Have Any Experience With How Much The Fan Should Operate On This Car. The New One Is Coming On Quite Often Under Normal Driving Conditions, Although It Has Been In The 90's Here In Reno The Last Few Weeks. Does Any One Else Have A Similar Problem With The Stock Fan Clutch Or Have You Found That Generic Replacements Don't Operate The Same As The Stocker.

Thanks For The Help,
Brian
