My car has been in the shop for 2 weeks now and they cannot figure out this power steering pump mystery.. This again is a 93 twin turbo. They replaced the pump with the same exact pump that was on it (now I am thinking this steering pump was never set up correctly) It seems the power steering bracket or the pump is to far forward causing the belt not to be lined up and it is jumping off. You can see it as it is that noticable. THe mechanic said he spoke to a nissan dealership and no one can figure this out.
This is why I posted the 93 tt with a 89 block? That was the mechanics theory but I think he is wrong. I really dont want to take this to the Nissan dealership and pay a fortune when I know I can replace the pump myself if I know what part to get. Is it the wrong pump? Is it the wrong bracket that was put on? The speedo says 179k miles and the guy I bought it from said he replaced the turbos and nothing about the engine being replaced. I tried to contact him and of course he isnt responding back. (bought from ebay never do again)
The lazy mechanic also didnt want to find the vin on the block which I can imagine is going to be a trip for me to get to. Should I buy a few different year brackets, pumps and try them? just bring it to the dealership? I have no idea what to do ... I appreciate any help.
are you sure the pulley on the pump isn't on backwards? sounds silly, but i had to second-guess this when i put my motor together. there's 4 little nuts that hold the pulley on. if the "offset" on the pulley faces forward, it will stick too far forward and the belt will fall off. if the offset faces backwards, it fits.

I wish it was turbo charged, i bought it to save gas due to the gas prices skyrocketing and not to mention i have to fill up the Z with premium every time but i think its worth it. yeah i almost bought an '02 but i like the '95 bodies better. Your right when they are parked together they look awesome.
