1993 Twin Turbo with an 89 engine block?

I recently purchased a 1993 TT, which runs great. I had to replace some minor things brakes, rotors, slave cylinder. Well, I also had a small leak in the power steering pump. I didnt have time to do this myself. Well, my car has been in the shop for 2 weeks. And the mechanic is trying to match up the pump. Apparently, he bought a 93 tt pump twice and the pulleys are a 4 groove but my main pulley is a 3 groove. So it isnt lining up. They dont want to take everything off to verify the vin # on the block but they think the block is an 89 motor with all the turbos and what not added on. Has anyone heard of this or seen this done?? They are saying there were little changes in the block??

The Z32 started as a 90 my but some prod dates were in 89. All the blocks were the same through the production. The 90-93 Z's have hydralic hicas and the 94-96 is elelctirc hicas. The electric hicas cars have a 3 rib belt and a shorter ps pump. Maybe yours is a 94 model year with electric hicas but a 93 production date?

THanks mike! where would the electric hicas pump be? For some reason, the mechanic said the production date was oct 92?? I do know the sale date was 12/93 with 24 miles on it from the dealer. This is a total mystery!! I should hear soon if the 89 pulley fits. I dont know if he pulled that from the vin. If it was produced in 92, could they have converted the Hicas over to electric? I am assuming the Hicas is working as the light goes off after it is started...One more question for you Mike. The black sticker/rubber piece right under the rear spoiler and above the tail lights needs to be completely replaced. Can I get this at a nissan dealership? any idea on cost??

The electric hicas doesnt have the big control solenoids under the hood and doesnt have the additonal lines going to the rear of the powersteering pump. Its nearly imposible to convert to the electric hicas without spending tons of money. The elecitc hicas is purely electric with no connection to the power steering system at all.
