Drag Slicks and Rims

I wanted to verify that a 15" rim would clear the rear calipers of a Z32 Twin Turbo. I also wanted to know what size slick seemed to work best.

TT Net seemed to indicate that 26x8.5-14 would work for most setups (high horsepower exempt from that statement). Any thoughts? I also want to verify that this will clear the wheel well.

26x8.5-14? I'm confussed? WXY uses 15x8's BFG 275/50/15 in the rear of his Z32 when he drags. Hope this helps?

That would translate to a 26x11-15 I believe. What I mean orriginally was 16x8.6-15. It does help. Those must be a Drag Radial. I'm talking about a true Drag Slick. I'll be using M/T ET Drags because they've worked before for me on other setups.

Drag slicks are dangerous because the side walls are not stiff like street tires. If you do use slicks you need to have matching fronts (slicks) or your car will fight with the the unstablness of the rear slick tires. Please do more research on using slicks because it can really do you harm.

Well first the only place I use slicks is at the track. In RWD applications the best setup is skinny's up front with slicks in the rear (for weight not stability purposes). People have been using slicks with street tires successfully for decades. Are your refering to something inherint in the HICAS? I'm really confused as to what danger you see in them. The sidewalls are soft becaue the tire is designed to maintain the greatest contact patch with the track. You are right that sidewall height plays an important role in how well the tire "stands up." Perhaps the confusion is that you think I'll be running slicks on the street.

That is what I mean't about the slicks in the front, my bad. I mean't skinny's like you mentioned but it's not only weight but balance. I have talked about this to big HP Supra guys that race for a living. I have also talked to Kyle @ SGP about this a long, long time ago so I urge you to do more research before doing such a set up. If you are going to do it at least know what your getting your self, right? Also please post back here in the future to let us know what you did?

I'll post up. Hurdle #1 is buying my Z. I'm looking for a 94-95 Twin Turbo. Color isn't important (although white would be nice). Should probably have one by mid January. The strip doesn't open up here in Vegas till early Feb so I've got some time to get stuff set up on the Z (Profec B, intake, chip tune, maybe injectors). I know exhaut is usually part of the stage 3 routine, but at the track I find it's best to just run open downpipe (perhaps with extensions for exhaust gas management).

The only reason to use skinny's on the front is to reduce rolling resistance. If I can clear the HICAS with 15" drag rims I'll run a 24x9-15 slick.
