Problems w/ a used TT

I am currently looking for a Twin Turbo 300zx as my second car. right now we have one of our friends at a used car dealership searching for one. he has found a red 1990 five speed. when we were driving it seemed fine, however the clutch was slipping in fifth gear. as we kept driving it and while i was driving it it started slipping more and more.....so by the time we got it back we had to nurse it down the road at about 25 and pray we didn't hit any red lights. also on the way back we noticed some smoke coming through teh center A/C vents. so that same day the dealer took it to the shop, so that means its got a new clutch. Finally, the speedometer is WAY off, while we were passing a car that couldn't have been going more than fifty five the car said we were going 80. MY dad stepped on the gas and we figured we were doing about 60, but the speedometer read 105.

Are any of these problems, besides the clutch obviously, too serious to buy the car? I know we can get a good deal on it and we might not even have to borrow the money if we trade in my car. Thanks for any feedback

Later!

The speedo being off could be a big issue, my advice, no matter how well you know the person selling it ... RUN A CARFAX!! It may uncover things that your friend didn't even know about. (Ex. Salvage Title, Odometer Rollback, Major Accident, Inspection Failures, etc.). Also, have the car checked out by either your local mechanic, or a Nissan Dealer ... it may cost you around $80, but they would run it on a Consult scanner, check under the hood, and who better to look at a Nissan, than a Factory Certified Master Technician. Its always best to have someone who knows a lot about the car look at it so they can point out things that you may not have noticed.
