It's not easy and it sure is not cheap look forward in spending around 10K+.
If I were you, I would get a TT and do a total TLC on her so this way you will have a problem free and spend less money on her as well.

Not that much:
Total
I will have a Z with a 0mile engine, 0mile turbos, 63K mile tranx, polished aluminum parts, twin turbo @ 400HP+ for the cost of:
1991 300ZX - $7125 (in mint condition)
+ conversion parts - $3960
TOTAL: $11085
Also consider I will be selling the original NA engine for ~$1500 (or possibly for $2500 after total rebuild)
-AND-
Sold the transmission (after total rebuild) for $750
(4th gear syncro problem - replace all syncros and bearings)
Total conversion cost after expected returns: $1460
(or $1000 if engine is rebuilt and sold)
Can you buy a 12second TT of the same caliber for $8585?
Of course, all of this comes at no labor cost because I did it all myself. I won't even start to think about how much time this would bill for, but, I have the knowledge gained from doing all of this which is invaluable in and of itself. The beast also runs 12 second 1/4mile passes consistently.
