Help Car idling between 1500-2000

I popped the hood and it kinda sounds if there may be a vaccum leak behind the upper intake manifold but i cant find it. Has anybody had this similar problem, i thought if its not the problem to try and replace the throttle position sensor or check the maf but i dont know where to start. Oh yea its a 91 naturally aspirated 300z. thanks all

Where exactly is the sound coming from? Is it behide the drivers side or pass. side manifold or is it in the center? It most likely one of your small hoses poped off or cracked.

Hmm.. sounds like your vacumm brake hose or vacumm clutch hose. I replaced mine a while ago because they were old and started to crack. If that is not it then look a the AII it might be leaking there as well. Good luck.

I am having a similar problem, it could be a vacuum hose, I haven't investigated it very much though. I do have a faulty Fuel Pressure Dampiner which could be the couse of the high idle, I'm not sure. We'll see when I replace the dampiner.

If you can smell gas you should check all your fuel lines from your gas fliter on. This could mean that you have a fuel leak and may start a fire. (Very dangerous) Please check ASAP. I have had a friend lose his Z to such a thing.

If its not a vacume leak, its probably the TPS.

Mike

checked fuel lines and they are cool, i popped hood and didnt smell any gas, i then realized that i only smell the gas when stopped right after i fill up, well i think what is causing that is a little gas spills out after i remove the pump from the filler neck and settles in the corner of the filler area. The gas smell then filters through to the hatch area. As for the TPS how much is that going to run and if its like my mustang i HAD to get it from the dealer cause the aftermarket stuff at autozone didnt function correctly. So should i go aftermarket autozone tps or go to the dealer and how much?

You need a ohms/VOLT meter to make sure your TPS is ok. Here is how it should read.
Throttle valve fully closed: 0.4 - 0.5V
Throttle valve fully open: approx 4.0V

If not you can adjust to thoses values. Mike are thoses values right?

As for your fuel smell I never had experiance that situation and I have had my Z since day 1 in 1992. I make a through check and make sure.
