Question 1990 300ZX Not Starting

Hello all, just joined to hopefully get some answers. I have a 1990 300zx with about 148,000 miles, I just took it in to get the heat and air repaired. They called the next day and said it was the radiator cap not being secure - no seal around the radiator, so they flushed the coolant and said that should hopefully solve the problem.

They called back the same day, they asked if there was a kill switch for the security system, they could not get the car to start, they said it turns over, but doesn't start. They said that the security light is blinking, but I thought it always blinks. They said it blinks when the doors are closed.

At this point I am expecting the worst and thinking that them flushing the coolant could have thrown a rod of some sort or perhaps it is just the computer that needs to be reset because I heard that it is some sort of security setting to prevent it from being stolen.

I really don't have any other idea why it couldn't be starting, they mechanics don't sound like they have a lot of experience and they said they are calling Nissan today.

Any possible answers or tips would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE

So we just had the car towed to our local Nissan dealership, hopefully they figure it out soon and I can get my car back by Monday, but it isn't looking good.

300zx start issue

Hello -
Did you get your 300zx back going? What was the problem? I have the same issue with my car. It did the same thing once last week but started the next mourning, then yesterday it did the same thing. If you let me know your fix it may get me in the direction I need to go.
Thanks for any help.
Donnie

Turns out the plugs and whatnot from the starter were all corroded and needed to be replaced. The whole shabang to get it started again and get my heat working was just under $500. Ouch.

300zx not starting

I had just changed the plugs and the air filters. After hours of plucking and flicking wires, I unplugged the security switch that is under the hood, as soon as I did, the car cranks every time. I guess I will find out this week if that was the fix.

Another infamous problem with these cars is the Igntion Module goes, it will work when car is cold as soon as it warms up! Dead! The car will crank but won't turn over...I figured that problem out after it died in mid traffic on a highway!! Im pretty sure there was even a campain for it back in like 1990 ish.
