ok i have a big problem with transmission and lights.
i was driving around today and randomly my headlights, taillights, blinkers, and gauges stopped working. when i have my headlights on instead on headlights its my high beams even when i dont have it set on high beams so its like they are constantly on whether its switched on high beams or low beams and i cant figure out what the probolem is. also theres light smoke coming from my transmission inside of the car after i drive for a little while and it seems to be a little difficult to shift into different gears like its stiffer than it should be. does anyone know whats wrong because i really need help with this.
Ok, first check all your fuses, in the engine bay and in the drivers side wall. After that you might want to check your fluids in your tranny. After that, you might want to check to see that the two seals on the shifter are actually sealed (Pull up the center console, they are under the boot) Then you might want to make sure you have no exhaust leaks up front. That should keep you busy for a while. Good luck!
ok i checked my fuses on the driver wall and all are fine...and i checked the ones in the engine bay but i don't know how to tell if they are blown or not because they are like relay fuses i think they are called..and also how do i check my tranny fluid?
If your car is a Manual, there is a plug about 3/4 of the way up the passenger side of the tranny. Remove the plug and stick your finger in. Should be up to the mouth of the opening. Autos should have a dipstick...
I cant say I have had alot of blown relays, but I am sure if they were bad, they would probably smell burnt. (Just guessing here)
ok i fixed the lights, re-checked the fuses on the driver sidewall and found the blown one, so the tranny fluid should be up to the plug hole on the side, do you think that sounds like the problem, no tranny fluid causing the tranny to smoke
If your tranny is smoking, you wont be driving much. I would check the car on a lift to see of you have any exhaust leaks, or maybe an oil leak that is dripping on the exhaust. I HIGHLY doubt its the transmission smoking. Check all those things out. Goodluck!
