EGR deletion

What is the proper way of doing a EGR deletion? What does it do for you? I have engine out and was going to replace it, but if I can delete it I'd like to. Just one less thing to go wrong later.

proper way of doing a delete? (smart ass answer) removing the the EGR and closing up the gaps: 2 in the plenum, one in the DS exhaust manifold. (???)

what does removing it do?
(1) eliminates a broken EGR.
(2) makes plenum pulls easier
(3) removes extra wiring and vacuum hoses.
(4) one less thing to worry about.
(5) no more exhaust gases cooling the intake charge when idle/decelerating. (the only downside).
(6) fail emissions testing (visual test)... not that it's an easy thing to see.

i removed mine. didn't need to, but i did.

You would need to get the ECU re flashed with a EGR removal program or your engine light will stay on thus failing the California emissions test.

Carry what? ECU reflash? EGR program? No, at least not to my knowledge. If you find any there (not in the parking lot) let us know and for how much! Seriously if that's what you are after then might I suggest searching the web. Try Jim Wolf Tech as a start and look for E.C.U. upgrades. Z

Thank you Z . I was just kidding a little. That all is over my head at this point, for a second I was thinking it was a common thing to do if you could. Jeff

Ahh, the internet, at times you just can't tell L0L. As far as the EGR deletion goes, it is a common thing to do if and when you are already "in there" and it can be a pain in the butt to get at. Personally I don't think it's worth doing on a well running Z32, just my opinion. Z
