Your Blow Off Valve

Hi all,

I was just wondering what all of you thought about installing a BOV in your TT? Do you recommend it or should I stick with the standard recirculation valve? Thanks all.

my car would stall after letting off the throttle when i wasn't in gear but my engine has problems. it just didn't feel right for me. but i might be putting them back on...

lots of people have success with them though. i have the apexi twin chamber BOVs. i would recommend the HKS SSQVs. almost everyone that i know that has them loves them.

and here's some technical stuff regarding BOVs and recircs:

(1) recircs are much better than BOVs because you aren't wasting metered air.

(2) the only reason to go to BOVs is when the recircs can't handle higher boost. i've heard "don't get BOVs until you are pushing 450HP". but now there's a kit to replace the spring inside the recircs with a much stronger one.

(3) BOVs have that great attention-grabbing sound. the look on people's faces after they snap their neck to see what the heck that noise was... but now everyone and their moms have a turbo with BOVs.

Are you looking for performance or sound? That is the question. And I agree with apudapus

I agree with that 100% I help run a lube shop in san antonio and alot of rich lil kids around love the sound and want atttention.

thats why we dont call them blow off valvs here.

more of a "SHOW OFF valve" than anything. even with high horsepower the metered air factor is still a huge concern if you want your car to maintain like normal. spark plugs and o2's will go faster becaust the ECU thinks one thing and you are doing something else..

plus..... just the other day I wasted a lil scooby with the driver having his chick in the passenger seat. she thought that car sounded soo kewl!! but in all actuallity my damn normally aspirated Z32 is nice, quiet(kinda) and inconspicuas ( dont mind my spelling) and that to me it worth more than getting attention.
