Question Climate Control (Temperate, A/C, HVAC)

HI - I have a 1990 Nissan 300zx (n/a) 2 seater. The temperature controls on this car have the slider on the right side to move up and down to control the heat.

The knob is very fragile due to its age and has broken off. Can I replace it with a 1991 climate control that is digital?

Thank you,
John

No, I had a digital climate controlled 1990 n/a 2 seater. They are totally different systems. Seriously be glad u have the sliders over digital. The digital became a nightmare for me. The a/c stopped working. Wasn't the compressor or level of freon. It was the motors inside the dash that actuate the temperature. VERY expensive. $500 just to get into the dash, not even parts.

Yeah, i have the digidash on my 86 300zx, and i had the same problem. (dash motors) Cost almost 800 buck just for the PARTS. You'd probably get off cheaper replacing your entire a/c console than switching to electric. Plus the parts and wiring is completely different.

Can you just get a new knob, or did it brake the knob stem too?

This recently happened to me with my 1990 2 seater, the motors inside the dash will not work anymore and I can't get it to change to heat. I took it to Nissan and they simply turned the motors or vents in the direction needed for heat and charged me around $400 just to change some corroded plugs and not replace anything in the heat, just get it blowing out hot air.

Well I was messing with the temp gauge and I switched it to ac and now when I switch back to heat, the motors stay on AC so I am left with the same damn problem again.

Is there anyway to temporarily move the vents back again to the heat position? Is it so hard you can't do it yourself? I am not that mechanical but I am willing to try anything.
