Hello all,
This is my first post and I own a 1990 Nissan 300zx.. If anyone here can help me out, then it would be greatly appreciated.... My 300z has 84,xxx actual miles and is a 1 owner car. It ran and drove excellent until a couple weeks ago.
But as of now, It is sitting in my driveway right now and will not start for an unknown reason. I know that it is not a fuel problem as it is getting plenty of fuel. It apparently does not want to fire and I do not know why. Before I take it into the shop, I was wondering if anyone out there could help me out with some possible common problems that it could be? Thanks in advance!
im also new 300zx owner 1989 50000ks going great so far looking for owners manuel anybody now wear i can get one, its a japan import looked every wear on net ??

i just need a owners manual to find out wear everything is and what makes things work
There was a recall on the CAS for that year Z you might want to go run the Vin at the dealership to see if it has been replaced? If not it's free.
I also have a 1990 Z NA with the same problem. The shop I took it to said the fuel injectors aren't pulsing correctly, in fact they're not pulsing at all, they're just open. To get it to start they pinched the fuel line (where the fuel filter is), and then cranked it.
Question for sponge, what is CAS, and would that fix my problem? I still haven't gotten it fixed.

Weird, I never heard of that as a fix.
Ok, I made a mistake. I mean't to say P.T.U. (Power Transistor Unit)
Call 1-800-Nissan-1 with your VIN # so you can find out if the recall has been performed on your Z.
Sorry...Its been awhile since Ive posted again....but Nissan did end up finding the problem. They charged me $80 for a diagnostic. While doing their check, they found a "bad power transistor wire"?? They went ahead and fixed it for free, and it starts up everysingle time and runs like a top now. Wierd eh? Anyone else have this problem before?
I just went through this with a 92 300z.
As soon as I locked the door, the car ran fine.
D'OOOH!!!!
I hate security systems.
since everyone is moaning and groaning about z problems. on my 1990 300z with a five speed i have a stalling problem and a high rpm. i do have the shop manuals and upon reading the schematics thought i might be the throttle valve switch. replaced it. not it. anyone got any ideas?

high rpm....try cleaning ECT coolant temperature senson on thermostat neck
Two things could cause the problem for the 1st car
1. Fuel pump controller
2. I really suspect a leaking injector since it starts when one side intake is taken off
Second car
running a Z and misfire or stumble at hight rpm's could be plugs and or gap if running higher
than stock boost.
6b-11b plugs
and gap 38

when do you have the problem? when the throttle is still open? when you close the throttle? when you are at a particular rev? how about with the clutch pressed in?
could be your MAS. you can try cleaning your throttle bodies.
