Intermittent problems like that, sounds like a sticking relay.

But as of now, It is sitting in my driveway right now and will not start for an unknown reason. I know that it is not a fuel problem as it is getting plenty of fuel. It apparently does not want to fire and I do not know why. Before I take it into the shop, I was wondering if anyone out there could help me out with some possible common problems that it could be? Thanks in advance!

What is CAS?

I also have a 1990 Z NA with the same problem. The shop I took it to said the fuel injectors aren't pulsing correctly, in fact they're not pulsing at all, they're just open. To get it to start they pinched the fuel line (where the fuel filter is), and then cranked it.

Question for sponge, what is CAS, and would that fix my problem? I still haven't gotten it fixed.

Weird, I never heard of that as a fix.

Ok, I made a mistake. I mean't to say P.T.U. (Power Transistor Unit)

Call 1-800-Nissan-1 with your VIN # so you can find out if the recall has been performed on your Z.

Sorry...Its been awhile since Ive posted again....but Nissan did end up finding the problem. They charged me $80 for a diagnostic. While doing their check, they found a "bad power transistor wire"?? They went ahead and fixed it for free, and it starts up everysingle time and runs like a top now. Wierd eh? Anyone else have this problem before?

Two things could cause the problem for the 1st car
1. Fuel pump controller
2. I really suspect a leaking injector since it starts when one side intake is taken off

Second car
running a Z and misfire or stumble at hight rpm's could be plugs and or gap if running higher
than stock boost.
6b-11b plugs
and gap 38

when do you have the problem? when the throttle is still open? when you close the throttle? when you are at a particular rev? how about with the clutch pressed in?

could be your MAS. you can try cleaning your throttle bodies.

Could be the MAF or you have an air leak.
