every time i hit the brakes or go over some bumps my car makes a kind of metal on metal squeek, kind of like a squeeky door. i checked the brakes and they are fine i think its the suspension. is this a common problem. any suggestions.

Check the sway bar end links and support bushings. This is common in older cars across the board. If those are fine , I'd start looking at A-arm bushings........

yeah, its most likely something in the suspension, grease everything that is supposed to be greased on the chassis and see if that helps maybe
