VC gaskets and oil circulation problem

I'm changing the valve cover gaskets on my brother's Z31 and the damn gaskets won't come out, there baked on. I've tried using that gasket remover crap, carb cleaner, and letting it soak in gasoline. Has anyone else had this problem?
And i noticed that the driver's side of the valve train is getting plenty of oil and the passenger side is bone dry, any ideas why?
