85 Z non turbo loss of power question

I am the original owner of the 85 and it has approximately 85,000 miles. In the summer of 06 I had the MAF, timing belt and tensioner replaced. Now I am losing power at low RPM's. An example, 5th gear at 55 mph going up hill. When I give it gas to accelerate, the engine will race but I don't get any power to the drive train. The same could be said in 3rd at 30 mph. The clutch seems to be fine. The only issue I know about is I have the original catalytic converter and there is a "performance" hole in the muffler or pipe. I am stumped and felt like I have been taken by the dealer before and I am looking for suggestions.

Thanks

Are the rpms increasing but the speed remains almost constant when stomping on her? If so the clutch is bad.

this is true if the RPM's go up but your speed doesn't your clutch is slipping. its the only answer. Now Why your clutch is slipping is a whole nother question, at 85k it shouldn't be unless you have spent a lot of time slipping/riding the clutch. make sure you aren't somehow getting oil on it (don't see how you could but....) you could have multiple broken springs on the throw out side keeping you from having adequite pressure on the friction plate (have seen this before on cars that were old and driven hard). that is all i can come up with off the top of my head. good luck to you. either way take it apart replace the clutch parts take the flywheel off and have it machined at this time so that the new clutch will "run-in" correctly and you are sure it is smooth, and flat. When you remove the flywheel make sure you mark both the flywheel and the end of the crank so you put the flywheel on in the same orientation it came off at.
