91 Z loss of power & airbag light

91 300Z 2+2 (NT). Had engine crank rebuilt, new oil pump, new water pump, new thermostat, new power steering pump (was leaking), and various belts & hoses. Mechanic is not Z savvy...1st time working on one. Engine is running now but the airbag light is on/flashing now, and the vehicle loses all power itermittently without warning (in park & gear). Neither of these issues were occuring prior to the engine work. A lot of time and $$$ has been invested, but the car is still not able to be driven with any reliability. Help...please!

Sounds like a bad ground. Your mechanic probably did not reattach a block or frame ground. The airbag light probably means one of the bumper sensors is damaged, probably from the engine being removed or installed. Just a guess, I'm not very familiar with the Z32s.

This should be moved to the right section.

Turns out it was a corroded connection a the sensor on the cam shaft gear. This solved the loss of power problem.
I have a new problem that was discovered after the car was brought home. The security alarm goes off intermitently for no reason. It only happens if the doors are locked, and there does not seem to be any "time" pattern (ie: could be 2 hrs after doors are locked, could be 12 hrs. may not happen at all, but does consistently happen over time).
This problem occurred after the engine repair. I've searched the servive manual and on line for any clues but can't seem to find anything defined regarding the door lock system.

well i don't know about yours but the alarm on mine is very sensitive i've found. When i got mine a couple months ago the security fuse had been removed (keeps alarm from going off). Mine will go off occasionally when a neigborhood cat jumps on the car, drove me nuts until i actually saw it happen one evening. Could it be something like this on yours? can't tell you how many times i've set mine off standing in the driveway talking to some one step over and lean against side of car setting off alarm. have seriously considered removing that fuse again. Other than that i'd say check for bad alarm motion sensor though i have no idea where that is on this car i haven't messed with it that much.
