anybody seen or heard of any wild XTrail customization?

Not that i am thinking of doing this, but i recall back in the early or mid 1990's , some Mazda Miata owners were buying used 5.0 v8 and installing them into engine bays, giving themselves a ''Monster Miata''. So i am curious if any Xtrail owners have done anything similar with their trucks....any engine/transmission upgrades ? anybody try installing a 3.0L v6 maxima engine and transmission into an Xtrail? Personally i like my Xtrail fairly stock as is, but if i were to just play around with my imaginary money , i'd do it in a way my truck would still be the capable little awd truck it is. I once read in a Hot Rod magazine about a guy who had a 1957 Chevy Bel Air and did some cool customize work to it...he bought from a wrecker a mid 1990's Corvette Zr1 engine, transmission, brakes, power steering and much more...then had it installed into his '57 chevy....with a custom interior including the corvette steering wheel, air bags, most of the dash parts, and a bunch more...that was probably a fortune to build, but he did end up with a very unique ride to enjoy.

''In mid 2002, Nissan launched a special edition X-Trail equipped with the SR20VET petrol turbocharged engine which produces 280 hp (209 kW). This model, named the X-Trail GT, was offered only in Japan.[2]'' From Wikipedia

You could always import one of those from Japan or the engine and convert yours!

There was also the Xtreme body kit, and a luxury Autech version

oh that's right, i recall catching that turbo model name somewhere on the internet! I wonder if any Australian Xtrail afficianados have imported this turbo X from Japan? Can you imagine how much more parts would cost if we Canadians were driving the turbo Xtrails on our roads?? Personally (again this is just pure fantasy for fun talk) if i were to upgrade/convert my own Xtrail i would attempt a 5.0L v8 out of a late 1990's mustang with auto trans, or a small torquey v6 japanese with a buildup of at least 210-240HP and nice low end torque . Something about turbo charged engines i am a bit leery of...such as long term reliability, finicky turbos, increased cost of maintenance and premium gas (if a gas engine)....you know the cost of premium gas in Vancouver is $1.50 to $1.60 per liter....regular gas is now $1.31 /liter...it was over $1.42 for the past 3-4 weeks and diesel is $1.15 -1.22 per liter. Actually, i'm glad i traded my 04 honda civic Si for the 06 Xtrail as i went from a torqueless , but very good on gas 4 cyl to a decent power/decent fuel economy 2.5 four cyl. with excellent comfort and utility...i think it would of been a big shock to my wallet if i bought a small suv with a v6 or turbo 4 compared to what i owned for 12 years.

the lowering and ''street look'' part im not really interested in as i dont want to take away from the true purpose or potential of the truck , which is to me a daily driver/ awd utility vehicle that can be used to go hunting/fishing /camping or just to Walmart. I guess what i was getting at was kinda stock looking Xtrail sleeper that has more engine power, a nice rumble from the exhaust and making other drivers scratch their heads wondering '' Whoa, what did that Xtrail guy do to his truck to make it go like stink ??''.
