Ignition turns off new HU

Hi,

with the OEM radio, going from ACC to START Engine would not cut power to the radio. Since I have installed my new HU (Kenwood DNX9140) going from ACC to START turns off the radio so I must suffer the boot process all over again. It's a mere 30 sec... but still really annoying considering the OEM never did this to me.

In any case, I would like to find a way so that when listening to radio on ACC and I decide to START the engine, the radio keeps running...

The unit is rated 15amps - not sure how much it draws in normal operation.

Any ideas?

thanks,
jovig.

Are you sure it didn't cut power to the radio? I will check when I get back in my exy, but I am pretty sure when you turn the key from acc to start it kills the radio, the sub, the headlights and the dashboard lights. I think it is a safety thing in case your battery is weak so you get max power to the starter.

TBK,

Now you have me doubt myself... as far as I can remember, while playing a CD it never cut-off... anyway, I was wondering how can i fix this? Would a capacitor do the trick? Thing is about capacitors, I know what they are for, but can it work to supply power to the radio for 1 or 2 seconds?

Check the electrical connections. I do beleive there are a couple acc wires one that loses power while acc/start but the other do not. 1 wire is for back up battery power and the other is grey and blue which is the acc/start wire. Ensure that these wires are connected properly.
