Driving a broken X-Trail in the United States

Being a “Canada Only” vehicle in North America is it a good thing or a bad thing to own this vehicle if 50% of all major trips involve traveling to the United States from Canada? Does anyone have any experiences involving repairs that took place in the US while the vehicle was still under warranty in Canada?

Thanks for your time!!

Mic,
The exy is very reliable, and everyday maintenance is not an issue even if you have this done in the states.

Engine is also very reliable and even if something does happen, the engine itself (QR25DE) is also available in the Altima in the states...

One point of consideration is BRAKES components; The rear brakes are prone to "slides jamming" problem which would prematurely wear the rear pads (and possibly rear discs if not caught in time) the beast advise if not to exceed 18000km interval for rear brakes disassembly, cleaning, lubrication and reassembly to avoid problems.

This link will take you to the described problem:

I suggest you read the entire thread starting on page one.

Look down on page 3, post #38: There is one case where Rolly58 was "stuck" in North Carolina awaiting for parts from Canada... not fun.

Again, otherwise very reliable, and after 3 years ownership I would not hesitated to go anywhere on long trips. I think most owners will share the same view.
