In-dash Nav system? For Bonavista, replacing radio?

My wife is 'encouraging' me to get an in-dash navigation system for our x-trail bonavista. Nissan offers (offered?) one for the SE/LE versions for some obscene price ($2500?).

- How is the nissan navigation unit? Is it the same across all nissan vehicles (Pathfinder, Murano, Altima, etc?).
- What aftermarket units might fit, with the existing speakers (i.e. with radio as well?).
- How do you remove the radio in teh BV? Is this something I should really trust an installer to do? might they damage the trim?

Obviously you have a fair number of questions on this subject - and, fortunately, there are lots of answers..

You find some very interesting and helpful information if you do a search - simply using "sat nav" as your key word will point you to at least 34 threads related to your current area of interest.

You may not be aware of the search function as you seem to be fairly new to the forum.

The "search" function is always a good starting place to get some questions answered.

Have a go at it - it will make things so much easier....

Cheers = Roger

I cannot comment on the sat nav install, but as a fellow bonavista owner, replacing the stock radio was pretty easy - aftermarket mp3 player works like a charm and powers all 6 speakers - requirements cage/bin pocket, nissan wiring harness and about an hours work - antenna did not require an adapter

I put a copy of the 2006 sat-nav handbook here if it's any use to you.

Should show you what it does etc.

Works reasonably well and the kind lady on it who gives me directions is very patient.
