Engine tuning options
Hello there. This is my first post. Tried some searching on this, but haven't come up with anything.
I have a 2005 2.2dCI SVE which I bought last month. It's a pretty good car, but I am still getting used to having a 4x4/SUV after owning 'normal' cars (I still have a BMW 320d Touring though). One aspect in particular is the engine power. With noting in front of you on the road, it's pretty good. But it lacks the power for overtakes etc.
So I was wondering whether anyone here has considered tuning their engine (or anyone has actually done it)? And, if so, are there any implications for suspension and braking - should they be also upgraded in some way.
There are a number of companies offering relatively simple plug in tuning sets tunit.co.uk and tuningbox.com to name just a couple. So it looks to be quite straighforward and not too expensive.
As there are also such issues as declaring this to my insurance company (and the resulting increase in the premium), I am not so sure this is a good thing to do yet. It may also be that the car cannot take the extra power.
Anyway, I hope this isn't too daft a question to ask in my first post.
