Nissan/ GM Merger not happening

Just heard on the news that Nissan/Renault pulled out of the whole thing.

I am glad, wasn't sure what I would have done in the future. Been a loyal nissan customer (6 vehicles) and wouldn't want to buy another with GM/Renault's influence.

I agree. I don't understand why anyone would want to align themselves with a company that is on the verge of going bankrupt due to poor decision making. GM spent so much time and money on developing huge SUVs right at the time when gas prices were soaring.

With the exception of Daimler Chrysler, American auto makers are not profitable companies right now. The only reason the other two keep their heads slightly above water is because of their truck sales and their fleet vehicle sales. Did you know the best selling Ford right now is the Taurus. It is only sold as a fleet vehicle.

If your best selling vehicles are cars that are not available to the general public you have alot to worry about.

I think it was a wise decision not to merge with GM
