Unhappy tires...

I searched the threads under "tires" and came up with mainly offroad type of questions etc. so I decided to start my own thread.
When I bought my xtrail in December, I immediately had the "16" winter wheels with Toyo tires installed. I was pleased with the tires, slightly noisy as expected but not as bad as some I have owned on other cars. Otherwise great tires.
Last week I changed to the "17" stock wheels with the Dunlop tires. As soon as I started to drive out of the parking lot, the tires sounded noisy, noisier than the winter tires. I thought maybe cause they have been sitting in a cold garage all winter or whatever. A friend thought maybe they would be quieter after driving for a bit.
Well, most of my driving is highway and at 100km/h, I have to turn the radio up from 8 to 12. If I add the fan on and/or the roof open, I feel like I need earplugs. At 120, I can't even carry on a conversation with a passenger without practically yelling!
Anyone else experience this? What do you think my chances are to go back to the dealer and complain? How would I go about it and what can I expect? I don't think I can stand these tires till they wear out.

I have never "heard" of an OEM all season tire being louder than a dedicated snow tire. I can't think why that would be the case.
I can't imagine it, but are they directional tires on the wrong way maybe? I seriously doubt it.
And I'm sure you've checked the tire pressures already.
Are the OEM's significantly wider than your snows?

On my '05 with 16" wheels the OEM (Dunlops as well) all seasons are definitely quieter than the snows...like you would expect.

I don't know. This is a strange one.

The winter rims were they seized to the hubs?
Shock loads removing the rims can exert strain on the drive train.
Some time ago My tires were rotated and There was road noise evident that seemed to increase with time. Recently had it checked out at the dealer and found a bearing gone in the final drive. NIssan suggested that the vehicle was driven in 4wd lock improperly. Not the case. Part is on order and will let you know the results. Nothing concrete but something to address.
