Mexican Vacation

Just got back from 2 weeks in sunny Mexico, and the first thing I noticed was........................................... X-trails everywhere.
It seemed like every other vehicle on the road was an Xy.
Kinda scary, I love my X-trail, but wow.

I was Just in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico as well and not only are there xtrails everywhere but all of the taxis are Nissan Sentras. I asked the sales manager here in Brantford about it and he said that the Sentras are made in Mexico but the Xtrails are shipped in from Japan. I noticed that they had the rear bumper light and the door on the dash storage unit below the radio. I wonder how much use they have for the AWD..... perhaps on the back roads?

Another interesting tidbit of auto information was that I rented a Dodge car form Europe car at the hotel in Mexico and it was a Hyundai. The subcompact cars sold by Dodge in Mexico are rebadged Hyundais. Go figure!

Adios amigos,

Michael

Hola Amigos

Yes, except at Northern Border, where used Imported vehicles from USA are very popular, Xtys are very popular.

Mexico is Nissanland, we got 2 assembly plants Civac (Cuernavaca) & Aguascalientes & by the way, by cars sold, we are the third Nissan Market (USA-Japan-Mex in order).

As you guys that had traveled here have seing, there are a bunches of Sentras (B13) Taxis, all of them maded here.

We made, sell & export these Sentras (we name 'em Tsurus).

And talking about Xtys, they are also imported from Japan, but they are not so popular for off roading, it's mainly focused to HouseWives, Families, etc. & just starting at 2005 model we got a few AWD ones (my sister got one).

And talking about Hyundai's, yes, they're rebadged as Dodge's, we got a Daewoo with a Pontiac badge & The worst thing (please don't kill me): a Renault sold as a Nissan: It's named Platina & their Quality is really terrible.

The X-Trail is the number one small SUV sold here. The number one SUV is the Toyota Prado (Lexus GX470 but diesel and also in 3 doors). Number one sold car is the Yaris, while the number one Nissan sold is the B-13 Sentra followed by the B-15 Sentra and G-10 Almera.

Yes, we noticed many of those Prados. They seemed popular rental vehicles for tourists, too (I saw many tourists trying to navigate these around Panama City. Not the best choice IMO.).

It was also nice to see a Nissan Patrol in person. Unfortunately, we don't have those in Canada.
