Hi All,
New here and am looking for a bit of help, looks like theres loads of info and help here and I would be glad of some . I bought a X-Trail 2 weeks ago 2004 model with the 2.2 Dci motor and the thing is when the engine hits 2300rpm to 2600ish rpm it gets a rattle/ vibration .I have seen it descrbed somewhere as a tin can with nails rattling in it which about covers it!. It was back at the dealers today and notified of the complaint but one of the mechanics mentioned something on the lines of induction noise . I dissagreed , but too late it had to be re-booked in next week (it was herself who brought it back).I told them what I knew which seemed like news to him and he said it would go in for a full check over next week. Reading further on this and checking a few other sites it seemed like it was earlier models suffered with this problem and I even checked the chassis no with a site that noted recalls on all vehicles but my chassis no was not included. Seems to suffer all the rest the creaks and crack noises mentioned!. I`d appreciate any help and I know it`s probably been covered somewhere.
Thanks again
Ken
Thanks Ron,
Got in contact with Nissan Ireland and they have been very helpful, It`s gone back to the dealer now where tecnicians from HQ are going to look at it . There is a recall on the ECU which will be done and also the intercooler is to be replaced which is weeping oil. They said the mounting design on the intercooler was too rigid which causes the intercooler to deterioate and leak. They said there has been a few cases with the newer model where the timing chain tensioner has been an issue, so there looking at that as well.So hopefully all will be well when it comes back.Very surprised at the lack of quality of it and creaks and cracks sounds , not sure if I will hold on to it for long at this rate .Should of stuck with Toyota , I have a 2003 Hilux D4d and the quality and finish would stand out a mile compared to the x trail and it`s a commercial vehicle! .Thanks to all in the forums which have been a great help identifying all the issues .I`ll keep ye posted on what happens.
