Spoiler height vs. roof rack height

I'm thinking of getting the factory spoiler but I'm wondering if it sits higher than the factory roof racks? Does anyone have both? I don't want my kayak to scratch the spoiler all up.

Thx

The spoiler actually sits on the roof rails, so it is higher. You can try getting an aftermarket rear spoiler which bolts to the rear window instead.

THIS thread has plenty of alternative spoilers as Terranismo mentioned.

My aftermarket spoiler (which looks exactly like the factory one) sits higher then the aftermarket roof racks made by Rhino (the factory roof racks in Australia are not that high anyway and the spoiler still sits just a bit higher again)

Well, that sucks. I can envision the day where I might need more space, get some cross bars and put a Thule box or something up there. But if it's going to hit the LE spoiler, then I may just have to get a shorter wider box that wouldn't go far enough back to hit the spoiler anyway - they do make all sorts.

With a kayak though doesn't the bow and stern swoop up and out of the way as you get further from the center?

Kinda like this but way more gradual:

\______/

So, if the spoiler was still a bit higher than your cross bars, might it not matter in the case of a kayak? Just an idea. I guess you'd have to do some measuring to see.

Seems to me that if you're going with an aftermarket spoiler, going with a flush-mount one would be best though. I think they look better anyway.

sorry for the confusion guys and the typing error which should read as follows:

My aftermarket spoiler (which looks exactly like the factory one) sits LOWER then the aftermarket roof racks made by Rhino (the factory roof racks in Australia are not that high anyway and the spoiler still sits just a bit LOWER again)

I have a luggage box too, but it is a short type that doesn't reach the spoiler.

Marc: Can you please delete my incorrect post above, as this will can cause great confusion.

Yes the Kayak does swoop some but I've been thinking about getting a longer one, so I'll have to probably get the roof rack first, put the kayak on then measure to see how much clearance I'd need from the spoiler. Thanks for the link!
