Squeaking Sound in the cargo compartment

Friends,

I have an Xtrail 2.0 A/T. I have run approximately 8000Km ++ on the said vehcile and had it for around six months. Recently, I have been hearing a squeaking sound from the back cargo compartment. Usually occurs when I breke or when I take my foot off the gas pedal suddenly. Fairly loud. (I venture to guess it's due to the momentum of the car).

This sound also shows up when I go through ruts and holes ont he road, even if I slowed down.

What are the usual culprits? Are these brake issues or metal to metal contact issues?

Antonio

Usual culprits often include mice.

Just a thought.

Then again it might be the cargo bay tonneau cover. The metal catches sometimes squeak. Try some silicone spray.

The spare tire and all that goes along with it sit in a styrofoam tray under the floor. Thay might be what is making your noise. You may want to remove it and see if the sound goes away.

The other possibility (which I have also noticed) for the source of this sound, is the locking pin of the rear seats.

Push them in place firmly and see of this fixes the problem. I had to wrap a tape around the locking pin to stop the noise.

I also had the same problem as Jalal, a little tape made a big difference. Took me ages to track down the problem - and only with the larger back.
