96 engine

OK, My 96 altima enigne is in big trouble. The headgasket is done. Tried a sealent and that worked for a couple of weeks and then BAM water in the oil and oil in the water. The car runs fine, you never know it if you didn't check the oil. What are my options, besides getting rit of it.

What will it cost to get that fixed?

what if the Head is damaged?

Should I then go for a new or rebuild engine?

What is that going to run me?

Dont want to loose the car> it has 160K and I got it brand new 11 years ago. I only use it to go work and want it to last another 4-5 years. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm in MIAMI so if you knwo of anyone good shops that would be help too.

Chances are it's just the head gasket ... but, if you keep driving it with water in the oil it could do more damage. It could also over heat and warp the head or block.

If it was my car I would see how much it would cost to have the head gasket replaced and get it done before anything else gets damaged as described above. I believe the whole head along with the intake manifold can be removed in one piece, so it might not be too bad of a repair to do yourself it you can.
