Losing Power!

I've been losing power in my '94 Nissan Altima. I've been through 3 alternators so far. The clamp for the wire that recharges the battery keeps burning up. There is still power going through it though. However, the battery is not recharging and once the car is jumped it dies in a few seconds. I don't know what the problem is.
