Question i think its the tranny...?

so ive got a 96 altima. shes been doing pretty good, recently replaced the clutch at about 130k miles (now coming up on 140k miles). now i think the tranny is going out? it does this nuts hesitating bull when i try to accellerate. but not in any particular gear and not every time. actually, and i feel like this soudns dumb but i want to say its worse when colder out. ... ill see if its worse from a cold start. its like.. a ... its like someone whos never driven stick is driving.. w the almost stop-go type acceleration.
but im wondering if it could be anyhting else. and the tranny would be affected by cold start vs hot so that would only support this theory more...
i havent check to see if the tranny fluids topped off yet, im hoping that its low and thats all the problem is. id rather not have to visit a tranny shop.
that would be bad times indeed.
any help/suggestions is appreciated.
thanks.

My 95 is an automatic, but I had the same surging problem a while back, it was my intake gasket causing my engine to run like crap. It felt like my tranny was stuck in a high gear when I took off. Maybe try looking on the engine side of things?

well, initially i thought that it was the sparkplugs/wires since i remember a few years ago when one of my relatives - the previous owner- had gotten maintinence done and they put in the wrong wires and it feels alot like what it was doing then but not as bad- yet.
in just cruising w friends they started pitching that might be the tranny so i was concerned. but at the same time, the clutch wasnt slipping...at all.. ever.
and i figured its been a while since the spark plugs/wires been changed.... i ended up at my mechanics and he drove it around for a min and said that didnt feel like the tranny but try the plugs/wires.
i replaced the plugs and wires in about 40 mins time and shes been running beautifully.
good times.
